Kids, if left to their own devices, likely would eat little else than fast food and candy.
There’s a better, more nutritional route, according to health experts, and state Rep. Carol Kent, state Sen. Royce West, and the Dallas Dietetic Association conduct an educational session to teach parents and kids about proper nutrition.
Nutrition from the Ground Up: Growing Strong and Healthy Children takes place from 10 a.m.-noon, Feb. 20, at the Willie B. Johnson Recreation Center in Hamilton Park.
Targeted to parents with children ages 3-8, the event features registered dietitians from the Dallas Dietetic Association who will discuss and demonstrate nutritious foods for children.
Program topics, "Best Breakfast Bets," "Smart Snacks," and "It's in the Bag," will be presented at three different stationsm with food samples, for parents. There also will be activities and nutritious snacks available for children who attend with their parents.
The timing comes in advance of National Nutrition Month, which happens during March.
Mmmm, good and good for you.
